Well met! I’m Andrea. I’m half Norwegian and 100% Viking. I spend my days sword fighting, playing my horn, sewing historical garments, spinning, and knitting. I also have a BA in European history and I am currently studying for a Masters in Theology. I have a passion for Viking history, living history, military history, ecclesiastical history, and culture. My research encompasses several time eras and themes, which I incorporate into my academic work as well as my living history presentations.  I am also a historical fantasy writer who is currently working on a novel series.

Here on this blog I intend to share interesting, funny, and educational things I find relating to Medieval history and literature.

  1. Hi, Andrea!

In recent years, I’ve developed a fascination for Vikings, Norse culture and mythology, and Scandinavian history. Although I’m American from German descent, I like to think that my ancestors may have been Norse settlers, and that Norse culture speaks to me because of this.

I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge, experience, and opinions here. It’s getting worryingly close to a year since your last post, so I’m hoping you’ll make a return and continue providing your fantastic insight and point of view.

    • Hi Justin,
Thank you very much for your thoughtful note. I am delighted and encouraged that you like my blog. And thank you for sharing a bit about yourself with me. I too started this journey of research to learn more about my cultural heritage.
Yes, it has been getting close to a year, unfortunately. I started graduate school, so that has eaten up all of my time (but I am getting some blog fuel in grad school). I shall see what I can do once I get on break. Stay tuned!
      Thank you again,
